4 <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> WHEREAS this region is the fastest growing in the State of North <br /> Carolina, which is itself one of the more rapidly-growing states, and <br /> WHEREAS rapid growth is expected to continue for at least the next. _ <br /> two decades, bringing a mixture of opportunities and problems which need <br /> to be addressed now if the quality of life in this region is to be <br /> preserved, and <br /> WHEREAS the Triangle J Council of Governments is drawing up plans <br /> for a conference or conferences in the Spring of 1983 to explore the <br /> development-related issues and assist city and county officials in <br /> reaching a consensus on goals and strategies to preserve our quality of <br /> life, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE be it resolved that the Board of Commissioners of <br /> the County of Orange pledges its cooperation and participation in the <br /> conferences and agrees to be a co-sponsor. <br /> This the a// day of 1983 <br /> The Manger told the Board he had one additional item: a request that the Board <br /> approve a preapplication from the Department of.Social Services for State HDS FY1983 <br /> Coordinated Discretionary Funds. Social Services Director Tom Ward said there was <br /> no cash outlay required from the County for the program for "Comparing Two Models <br /> of Parent Education for Abusing and Neglecting Families. Commissioner Marshall moved, <br /> seconded by Commissioner Willhoit to approve the preapplication for the above project. <br /> Vote: Ayes, 5; noes, 0. The Board requested a copy of'the program. <br /> Commissioner Lloyd moved, seconded by Commissioner Marshall, to adjourn. Vote: <br /> Ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> Richard E.
