5
installation of an exhibit on newly acquired collection of furniture manufacturing tools and our
historical furniture. One of the grants was from the Institute of Museum and Library
Services. We were awarded the largest level grant of $150,000,
Throughout my career I have had to diplomatically deal with a large variety of persons. As
Curator of Education at the Mint Museum of History, I recruited and trained 125 individuals as
docents in six years. At the end of that time, 80 were active in the program. Ten years later, 10
from the original class I trained were still active. Since then I have served as the director of four
separate institutions in different parts of the country. I have worked for both private boards,
and cities with an advising board. As I have been involved in various building projects, I have
had to be articulate and precise, getting the message of the projects across to various
constituents. I have worked with city, county and state leaders, as well as community and
business leaders. As mentioned above I have worked closely with fundraising counsel, boards
and architects on the design of these projects. I am confident that I can work with the citizens
and leaders of Orange County and the involved organizations to successfully plan for the new
Heritage Center.
I am attaching my resume to this document. Please let me know what other information I
might provide to you. I look forward to discussing this exciting project with you.
Sincerely,
Barbara E. Taylor
