Full time staff hired (archivist) with volunteers. County should contribute IT
help.
Money should come from the city. Local institution. Some grants from Hillsborough tourism, public
donation. May cut into other organizations funding. Not 100% sure if it is Orange County or Hillsborough.
State money?
Public/private endeavor. An executive director should be hired who reports to the board... which is
comprised of public, non-profit agencies and county
representation.
7) If there was no concern about money, what would you like to see happen?
Combine Heritage Center and Museum into one space.
Facility open to general public with lots of Orange County history including the natural, political and
cultural history. Safe archival storage. 1-2 permanent employees. Minimally opened 2 3 days a week,
more with volunteers. Permanent space for revolving collections, research and study. Some public
programs by organizations involved.
Shared facililty for each group for archives, for safety, need staffing for it. Continual stream of funding.
Ability to acquire. Space for classes, meeting area. _
Combination of Museum and Archives. Closed stacks, generate money through research and copies.
Does not see programming as museum would do education and exhibits.
Nice place. Ability to take in more records.
Likes what Johnson County has been able to do with their research center. Admits much research is being
done online.
Should start small with opportunity to grow (space). Should provide opportunity for hands-on documents.
Virtual should come later.
Professional on staff. Museum and heritage center combined (Ideal) Though hard to get new structure
built in town. free to public, charging for copies, etc. Business hours, not by appointment.
Educational and Cultural center of Orange County including art, literature. Who is collecting today's
things?
See this as a two step process: First digitize-virtual collection... then maybe building can be done if
significant primary source collections are available. Asked what will be collected? Who will be writing
collection's policy?
