HDR has experience in other areas of <br />renewable energy including solar, renewable solid fuels, biogas, geothermal, biofuels, hydropower, ocean energy, and, <br />of course, waste -to- energy. <br />SOLID WASTE CONSULTING SERVICES <br />For more than 35 years, HDR has been an innovative leader in developing solid waste <br />management systems and facilities for our public and private sector clients. We have <br />been involved in all aspects of evaluating, planning, designing and procuring both <br />traditional and trend - setting facilities, including landfills, transfer stations, and material <br />and resource recovery facilities. This past year, Engineering News - Record ranked HDR <br />#2 in Solid Waste. Hundreds of communities look to HDR for assistance. They range <br />from small rural hamlets to the nation's giants, including New York City, Chicago, and <br />Los Angeles. HDR has assisted them in their efforts to develop highly efficient, <br />integrated, and sustainable solid waste management systems. From solid waste <br />collection to waste transfer and disposal, HDR has been responsible for facilities that <br />handle one in every ten tons of solid waste nationwide. <br />The firm has been responsible for more than 45 municipal waste combustion facilities, <br />100 recycling programs, 35 material recovery and composting facilities, 150 transfer <br />stations, and 300 landfills. Recently, HDR principals have been coordinating with solid waste professionals across North <br />America and in Europe to advance the concept of Integrated Waste Management with reuse, recycling, and reduction <br />followed by advanced thermal conversion of the leftover waste.
