2 <br />Aside from the addition of and recommended funding for Charles House in FY2010 -11, the <br />Department on Aging has combined its Block Grant funding under "in-Home Aid Services" with <br />that under "Information, Outreach and Case Assistance ". As a result the Department will be <br />able to use Block Grant dollars to help offset a greater portion of information, helpline, office <br />and in -home consultations, follow -up, care coordination, and Medicare and benefits navigation. <br />The freed up local dollars then can be used more flexibly to purchase and provide a variety of <br />services and adaptive devices, ultimately assisting more seniors to better remain in their homes. <br />The Department of Social Services will continue its provision of "In -Home Aid Services" under <br />Block Grant stipulations and consistent with its mandates for seniors at -risk to placement. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Home and Community Care Block Grant for FY2010 -11 provides for <br />a total of $481,880 in State funding to support a network of aging services throughout Orange <br />County. The required match is provided through in -kind contributions within Departmental <br />operating budgets. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board approve the Home and <br />Community Care Block Grant Funding Plan for FY2010 -11 in the amount of $481,880 and <br />authorize the Chair to sign the grant documents. <br />
