Transportation, Mr. Luce added, is con-
venient in these areas, being at or near both I-85 and US 70.
Planning Board member Kizer asked how many gallons of water per day were
supplied by existing reservoirs to Orange County.
Mr. Luce replied approximately four million gallons per day by existing
reservoirs and Cane Creek, if built, would supply-ten million gallons per day and
Seven Mile Creek, if built, an additional six and a half million gallons per day.
Ms. Crawford asked for public comments.
Mr. Ben Lloyd, Route 1, Efland: Said that what is proposed tonight is not
what the Cheeks Township Advisory Council recommended. He said the Advisory
Council had .asked that the entire corrider between I-85 and US 70 be designated
industrial/commercial and that such development not. be limited to certain "nodes."
He said this concept of "nodes" was a major concern of Cheeks residents, that it
left no place for development to occur. He suggested a linear zoning concept which
would encompass the entire corrider formed by I-85 and US 70.
There were no other public comments either for or against the proposed amendments
to the Land Use Plan for Cheeks Township.
2. He suggested waiting until the new Planning Director was in.•place before
considering this question. He said he is in- favor of "good land use planning"
but he would work against it as long as it is "unreasonable." He is opposed to ,
the "node" concept of zoning, he wants zoning in a linear form. He cited two
recommendations of the Water Resources Task Force Report, # 8 and # 10, and said
he didn't know what standards.,would be required for development in Seven Mile
Creek Watershed with regard to # 8; and for #.10, he said there had been no sig-
nificant change with regard to waterr-and sewer extension to Seven Mile Creek, only
a semantic change. He referred to the petition against zoning which he had presented
i
at the October 6, 1981, public hearing on the extension of zoning into Cheeks Town-
