Mr. Passmore said his agency was depending more on volunteers <br />for some services in this year of cut-backs. <br />Mr. Passmore outlined the concerns of the Senior Citizens Board regarding the <br />elimination of the capital request of •$6,000.00: 1) blinds are neeaea Tvr tine <br />windows at the Northside Nutrition room; 2) tables and chairs a.re needed for. the <br />Northside meeting room; and 3) an L shaped counter is needed for the Hillsborough <br />nutrition center. The Board discussed with the Manager options for providing <br />the necessary equipment for the centers. <br />Mr. Passmore said basically, his department could live with the Manager's recam- <br />mended budget for his department. <br />~ The Board suggested some collaboration between the Department of Aging add <br />the Social Services Department on Adult Protective Services might be an efficient <br />'use of personnel and time. and. money. <br />Ms. Gotha Lassiter and Mr. Wilson McKerrow, members of the Senior Citizens Board, <br />addressed the need for equipment for the Senior Centers in the County. <br />Commissioner Whitted thanked Mr. .Passmore and members of the Senior.Citizens <br />Board far their presence and presentation tonight and announced the Board's <br />budget meeting schedule. <br />Commissioner Whitted announced that this was the last evening for Cindy Thomp~.., <br />reporter from the Chapel Hill Newspaper, to cover the Board's meeting as she was <br />moving to Augusta, Georgia to take a new position there.
