Wednesday, Mash 17, 1982, at 7:30 P.M. in the Commissioners' Room, Orange <br /> 9. County Courthouse, Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br /> 10. The Purpose of the mweting•was a work session to discuss the *dater <br /> 11. Resources Task Force •Rerdrt, its're=m&-,dations_and proposed mwbftents`: <br /> 12. to the Zoning CWdinance.which.would implement those mcommendatiops. <br /> 13, commissioners present: Chairman Richard E. Whitted, and Cxmmi.ssioners <br /> 14. Norm Gmtaveson, Shirley E. Marshall., Noun Walker and bcux Willhoit. <br /> 15. Mr. Fred Luce of the Planning Department reviewed the Report's <br /> 16, rem°-ndations while Mr. ,lam Polatty reviewed the Proposed amendamts to <br /> 17. the Zoning C)rdi nance which would l.implement those recamnendatti ons. <br /> 18. During the discussion, one Board member said the Board could do one <br /> 19, of two things: 1) do nothing,or, 2) accept the ndations which assumed <br /> 70, a back up water supply for the Town of Hillsborough. <br /> >l -Cohynissicner Gustaveson said he felt that this report Provided a <br /> 22. balanced statement between water quality and industrial development. Mr. <br /> 23. Luce said he felt it was the best plan to protect water quality; Commissioner <br /> 249 Willhoit, who was On the Task Force, said the primary concern of the Task <br /> 25. Force was for water supply and quality while attempting to pxovide for orderly <br /> 26. growth along areas which had transportation. <br /> 27. Mr. Don Cox, speaking as a private citizen, said that almost every <br /> 28. identified reservoir site in the Upper•Eao watershed was needed and should <br /> 29. be preserved. He suggested an engineering study on the feasibility of <br /> 30. directing drainage .North of 2-85 dawn into seven Mile week below the <br /> 31. dm; he felt that it could be made part of the eventual widening of I-85. <br /> 32. The Board asked that the reCOMendations be forwarded to the Town of <br /> ,3- Hillsborough Board of Cbmni_ssicners for its response and thoughts on the <br /> 34- long team water supply of Hillsborough; and, that Planning work with the <br /> 35. DePar`bnent of Transportation to get an engineering study which would <br /> 36. accomK)date development and at the same time protect the water supply along <br /> 37. the 1-85 corridor. <br /> 38. <br /> 39. <br /> 40. <br />
