UUbU.
in Orange County. He says this is not a positive contribution to
g Y Y P
the County; the air and noise pollution will extend beyond the pro-
perty lines. If this project is- approved there will be an urban
sprawl there. He wants the airport placed in Northern Oiange,
near Hillsborough.
Mr. David Curl: A resident of Bingham Township, said he had
received a letter from the Planning Staff that told him of this
proposal and that he had a house located in the flight approaches
to the airport. She said it isn't good
to infill from an airport. She asked that the Boards look closely
at this alternative to the Horace Williams Airport. She added that
Bingham Township had already felt some urbanizing pressure from
Chapel Hill.
Mr. Watts Hill, Jr. : Representing Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber
of Commerce, said, 1) a substitute for HWA is needed; 2) it should
be reasonably near Chapel Hill-Carrboro (3-5 miles) ; 3) as a matter
of policy, the Chamber cannot take a position for a specific site
but would like to make additional comments. a) demand calculated
i up to the year 2000 is- 150 aircraft, which the Chamber thinks is
understated; b) if this site is inappropriate which site is appropriate;
c)is there any consideration given to the amount of taxes which would
I
