5. The Department of Social Services has received notification of additional State funds for <br />the following programs: <br />• Adult Home Care -receipt of $12,212 from the NC Division of Aging and Adult <br />Services. The department will use $2,612 to offset the cost of purchasing adult day <br />care for individuals with disabilities to help them meet basic needs. The remaining <br />$9,600 will provide contracted services for elderly patients to avoid institutional <br />placement. <br />• Work First -receipt of $7,988 in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Federal <br />Funds (TANF) to purchase supplies for the Work First program. <br />• Energy Administration Program -receipt of $2,168 from the Low Income Home <br />Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Block Grant to purchase supplies for the <br />program. <br />• Child Day Care Subsidies -receipt of $451,351 from the NC Department of Health <br />and Human Services to provide childcare subsidies to low-income families. <br />• Crisis Intervention Program -receipt of $126,385 to provide for the heating needs <br />of Orange County residents in crisis. <br />(See Attachment 1, column #6) <br />Criminal Justice Partnership Program (CJPP) <br />6. The North Carolina Department of Corrections has awarded $4,786 to Orange County's <br />Criminal Justice Partnership Program (CJPP). This award brings the total CJPP Budget <br />to $245,652 for FY 2008-09. Freedom House will receive these pass-through funds for <br />operating costs associated with currently offered programs. (See Attachment 1, column <br />#7 and Attachment 4, Criminal Justice Partnership Program Grant Project Ordinance) <br />Orange Grove Volunteer Fire Department <br />7. At its November 18, 2008 meeting, the Board of County :Commissioners approved a <br />request from the Orange Grove Volunteer Fire District to appropriate $20,000 from the <br />district's County-held fund balance. The fire department plans to use the monies to <br />offset the cost of purchasing a replacement fire truck. (See Attachment 1, column #8) <br />Health Department <br />8. The Health Department has received notification an .award of one-time funds of $3,000 <br />from the North Carolina Department of Public Health. These funds are provided to <br />participating counties as part of a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and <br />Prevention, and must be used to purchase vaccine storage equipment. (See Attachment <br />1, column #9) <br />9. The Health Department has also received notification from the North Carolina <br />Department of Health and Human Services of additional Aid-to-County funds totaling <br />$48,000 for the current fiscal year. The department plans to use these funds to cover <br />interpreter services and to offset personnel costs within health. promotion and personal <br />health divisions. (See Attachment 1, column #10) <br />
