Presently the <br />County's orduaance only addresses nuisance bar*mg and does not allow any type ofresohaun for other <br />animal noises In 2007, the Animal Control Division ofAnimal Services received only three complaints to <br />di, awd locations regarding roosters and spe ft ally the noise dx d they make, Research was conducted <br />on Mradcode to determine which counties around the state had ordinance provisions to address these <br />issues. .Ms Phipps provided members of the board with a report listing due fma ngs <br />A motion was made by Jean Austin and seconded by A&W Cary that the Animal Services Advisory Board <br />does not feel it is appropriate to movie forward with a recommendation that the Animal Ordinance be <br />changed but that there be further contact with Mr. 4*vs_regardingpotential civil relief VOTE: <br />Unanimous <br />Pd o* population Comnrkum—Pat Sanford reported that they gathered a lot of informalion at the last <br />meding and Beth Livingston ofAmmal Kind reported that at the present time they are spaying and <br />neutering about 100 animals ayear in Orange County without arty funds from Orange County Animal <br />Services and that at an average costper surgery of 3754100 they could do 100 more surgeries. Animal <br />Kind would do all the administration and currently Animal n d has contracts with local V&WVkW7anL <br />Ms Sanford also reported that the feral cat cardakffs are coming back to d1wuss how to handle feral cat <br />colondes and to try and reduce the number offeral adds coming in to the shelter. <br />Bob Movao reported that there is now 316, 000.00 in the County's Community SpayNeuterfwnd and that <br />the amount is expected to grow to - ,125,000 or more before the end of theftwalYear. Some of the funds <br />were used for the Spay Day USA program where we sterilized 20 animals belonging to clients of the <br />Deportment of social Services. The actual list was 31 animals but duce to the exact compliment of <br />males/females and cats /dogs, we were only able to process 20 drat particul ar day. We plan ongoing back <br />to the veterinarian with a supplemental contract to capture the other eleven animals The plan is to use <br />remaining money in this account in the last quarterfor a variety► ofprograms, which will help with the <br />prevention of unwanted pets that and up in the shelter.
