At the last
meeting, there was a discussion about getting a consultant to look at the county plans, the
financial model, and to start working on an analysis so that it will be in shape to go to a
referendum. She said that it is important to schedule time in a Commissioners meeting agenda
to look at these plans because there are a lot of assumptions.
Commissioner Hemminger said that she went on the hike with Triangle Land
Conservancy of the Rumbling Forest property, which is off of New Hope Church Road. The
property includes over 600 acres. The TLC was awarded the Clean Water Trust Fund Grant for
this and the hope is to close in April.
Commissioner Pelissier said that at the Human Relations event last week the Chair of the
Human Relations Commission mentioned that the HRC had been tasked with developing a policy
for social justice and it has not been acted upon. She asked why this policy has not been
brought forth to the Board of County Commissioners for adoption.
Chair Foushee said that the last time it was presented, she had asked staff to research
questions that were asked that night and to bring it back to the Board, but it was never brought
back.
Frank Clifton said that the staff will research this issue.
Chair Foushee said that the Board agreed to have a work session on this and it needs to
be added to a rolling calendar.
Commissioner Jacobs said that he has brought up previously the status of defibrillators in
buildings because most meeting facilities do not have them.
