He said that the Board would have <br /> 5' a checklist of findings which the applicant will have to meet in order <br /> °e to be granted a special use permit and those findings were listed in <br /> 1. the Zoning Ordinance. <br /> `'• The Board reached a Consensus that the <br /> special use permit public <br /> hearings should be continued so that the Planning Board could make a <br /> -0- recommendation to the Board of Commissioners based on information re- <br /> ceived at the public hearing. <br /> Agenda Item 5: Report on Orange 2unty's Hospital Needs <br /> Mr. Wilbur Morse, Chair of the Health and Medical Care Advisory Com- <br /> mittee, summarized the written report the.Board received from that Corm$t- <br /> ,se in June on the "Hospital Needs of Orange County." The Committee made <br /> several findings, summarized as fallow: 1) a surplus of hospital beds <br /> currently exists in Orange County which will not be eliminated until 1986.87; <br /> 2) facilities are of high quality; high technology; 3) facilities are <br /> accessible to citizens of (orange County; 4) quality service is available <br /> to the disadvantaged; 5) cost of services is camnensurate with the re-- j <br /> inainder of the State and the South and lower than than those costs in the <br /> 22. <br /> North; 6) some of the facilities are not available to some patients, i.e. <br /> `a' those physicians who are not on the staff at the teaching hospital. <br /> Mr. Morse said scare study needs to be done on the impact a new <br /> 25' private hospital might have on Orange County; he said the Hospital Cbr- <br /> 26' ration of America held an <br /> po option on 30 acres behind Brendles. <br /> Commissioner Wallhoit moved, seconded by 0 nlssicner Walker, to <br /> accept the initial report from the Health and Medical Care Advisory Cbm- <br /> 29' mittee and to request the Coma ttee continue to advise the Board.
