The staff
• feels there is a duplication of requests and that more coordination on the
• part of the state audit teams would result in more productive audits with
no wasted staff time reproducing files/records previously requested. There
was also the question of perhaps one state auditing team doing all audits
• rather than only one aspect of an audit. staff noted these requests are
•
not mandatory but are administrative in nature from different state De-
• partments. Staff felt that the audits were duplicative both in the fiscal
and programmatic portions. The Director of Social Services, Director of
• Health and Mr. Bill Baxter, Chair, Human services Advisory Commission, felt
that the State authorities needed to be made aware of this problem of
duplication in audits.
• Commissioner Walker, seconded by ozmmissioner Gustaveson, moved to
• "ask the State Auditors to come to the County Board to request staff time
for any assistance other than the one audit that the law requires."
Commissioner Walker mended his motion to "that Staff time for duplicative
State reporting must be specifically approved by the Commissioners;" Cam-
missioner Gustaveson's second stood.
