ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: March 27, 2000 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 2 <br />SUBJECT: Issues Identified /Presented by Orange County Schools <br />DEPARTMENT: County Manager PUBLIC HEARING: (Y /N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />3/23/00 OCS Superintendent Memo Randy Bridges, 732 -8126 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough <br />732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill <br />968 -4501 <br />Durham <br />688 -7331 <br />Mebane <br />336 - 227 -2031 <br />PURPOSE: To discuss issues of concern to the Orange County Board of Education. <br />BACKGROUND: As outlined in a March 23 memo (Attachment 2a) from Superintendent <br />Bridges, the Orange County Board of Education requested that the following topics be included <br />on the March 27 work session agenda. <br />a) Significant Elements of 2000 -2010 CIP <br />b) New Middle School <br />c) Community School /Media Center Shared Usage <br />d) Recreational Park (Pathways Elementary School) <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact tied directly to the discussion at this <br />meeting. However, decisions that may be made by one or more of the elected boards at <br />subsequent meetings are likely to have significant implications for future capital and operating <br />budgets. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the boards discuss the issues noted <br />and provide direction to staff, as appropriate. <br />
