A HYPOTHETICAL COMMITTEE TEE STR CTURE
Here's a possible grouping of tasks into five subcommittees of the BOCC. Two
commissioners could serve on each committee, with a third desig aated as an alternate.
The intent is to:
1. Lend some predictable order and structure to the num us ad hoc efforts
undertaken by the BOCC;
2. Allow preliminary discussions where policy considerad ons are identified and
explored prior to presentation to the entire board;
3. Allow brainstorming with staff in a less formal setting a regular board
meeting or work session.
Such an approach should increase board efficiency, create situations where
commissioners become knowledgeable advocates (or critics) of c proposals, and .
decrease the time taken at meetings to hash out alternatives suitat le to the board. 'Having
five committees means each commissioner can serve on two and a the alternate for a
third.
Ground rules must assure a level of trust that no hidden eqendas or overzealous
actions will compromise the integrity of the entire board's decisio a making.
PERSONNEL AND FACILITIES
Personnel Matters
Space Study
Construction Standards
LEGISLATION AND LIAISON
Legislative Agenda/Advocacy
Overtures To Neighbors
EDUCATION
Schools and Land -Use Council
SAFO
Community College
SOLID WASTE
Future Search
Coordinate With SWAB
Provide Guidance During Transition
LAND USE/OPEN SPACE
Coordinate Comprehensive Plan Update
Cane Creek clustering
TDR
BJ 0 /20/00
