Link, Jr., County Manager <br />DATE: April 21, 1999 <br />RE: <br />Report on Meetingwith Mebane Officials <br />I wanted to provide a brief report on the meeting that Chair Gordon and I had with <br />the Mayor, Manager and two Councilmen of tle City of Mebane, on Monday, April 19. <br />The representatives of Mebane expressed co and -anger about the prospect of a <br />Legislative Moratorium on Annexation by a within Orange The source of <br />their concern focused the' ping "singl 'from the o Orange' <br />County. Mebane officials indicated a <br />willingness to pursue the concept of johit planning with Orange County. With regard to a <br />moratorium, Mebane officials agreed to look at the proposed legislation; and there were <br />expressions made that a moratorium only on satellite annexations and only until joint <br />planning was in place may be more acceptable than their understanding of the present <br />drafted legislation. <br />Discussion was concluded with the agreement that Mebane would respond to the <br />County letter within a week. <br />
