386 <br /> Agenda Item 10: Rec mTended Amendments to the Travel <br /> Sects of the Personnel Poli <br /> Commissioner Whitted moved, seconded by cmudssioner Willhoit, approval <br /> of the amendments to the travel section of the Orange County Personnel <br /> policy as submitted. Subsequently, the following friendly amendments were <br /> made and accepted by camassioner Whitted with the second by Commissioner <br /> Willhoit standing: 1) commissioner Willhoit offered that Section 8 c of <br /> the personnel Policy regarding travel remit be amended to reflect <br /> reimbursement at the rate of coach fare; 2) Commissioner Whitted said the <br /> additional clause in Section 9 should be &Tended to read, "except where <br /> conference sponsored meals and lodging exceed those amounts;" 3) Commissioner <br /> Barnes offered an anent to "encourage carPoolang and m x-tmIIn use of <br /> County vehicles." Vote: Ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> The Travel Policy Sections of the Personnel Policy as amended to- <br /> night follow: <br /> Article Il, Sec. 8 of the Orange County Personnel Policy is amended to read as <br /> follows: <br /> See. 8. Travel - Reimbursement for Mileage. <br /> County employees and officials traveling away from the county on official <br /> business will be reimbursed as follows: <br /> (a) travel by official vehicle, Orange County pays total cost <br /> of operation and maintenance; <br /> (b) travel by personal car, twenty-two cents ($.22) per mile; <br /> (c) travel by public conveyance with the prior approval of the <br /> Manager, the actual cost of the fare, not to exceed the rate of <br /> "coach" fare; and <br /> (d) mileage for travel will be paid for the shortest usually traveled <br /> route. <br /> (Amended August 18, 1981) <br />
