This combined the existing Criminal Justice <br />Partnership Board and the Juvenile Justice Crime Council (formerly Community Based <br />Alternative Board). This joint venture between Chatham and Orange County is designed to <br />identify, develop and monitor programs to enhance the local criminal justice system in the <br />areas of both adult and juvenile justice. <br />The Orange- Chatham Criminal Justice Advisory Board and the Board's Executive <br />Committee are recommending that the two counties create a full time staff position to <br />support the criminal justice partnership initiative. The staff work required to support the <br />initiative exceeds what current staffing can provide. The approximately 50 member Board is <br />made up of County Commissioners, law enforcement officials, Judges, the District Attorney, <br />Probation and Parole staff, Office of Juvenile Justice staff, area mental health <br />representatives, School Superintendents, social services and health staff, community <br />agency representatives and others. <br />The proposed position would be an Orange County position, jointly funded with Chatham <br />County. It would be supervised from the office of Assistant County Manager Albert Kittrell. <br />In summary, the position will serve as facilitator and staff support to the joint Chatham and <br />Orange County criminal justice partnership initiative and to the Criminal Justice Advisory <br />Board.
