or~D- ~o~o - o.~b ~~a~me,~-l- 3 <br />Specialty Crops Grant <br />Grant Project Ordinance <br />Be it ordained by the Orange County Board of County Commissioners that pursuant to Section 13.2 of <br />Chapter 159 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, the following grant project is hereby adopted. <br />Section 1. The program authorized is the Specialty Crops Grant as awarded to the Orange County <br />Cooperative Extension and Economic Development departments by the North Carolina <br />Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. This grant will help to support the <br />emerging needed at the PLANT@ Breeze Farm Enterprise Incubator Program. <br />Specifically, the funds will be used to support training and field activities including <br />sustainable soil and water management, insect, disease, and weed management, fruit <br />and berry applied research, and business planning. Training supplies and hiring of a <br />mentor farmer will allow for program expansion to better serve apprentice farmers and <br />workshop participants. <br />Section 2. The officers of the County are hereby directed to proceed with the grant project within <br />the grant document and the budget contained herein. <br />Section 3. The following revenue is anticipated to be available to complete this project: <br />Specialty Crops Grant Program Funds (FY 09-10) <br />Total <br />$20, 000 <br />$20,000 <br />Section 4. There is a required County match of $19,035 for this grant, and will be fulfilled by $9,035 <br />from in-kind staff support within Cooperative Extension and Economic Development and <br />$10,000 from the annual Board of County Commissioner approved allocation to the <br />Breeze Farm. <br />Section 5. The following amount is appropriated for this project: <br />Specialty Crops Grant Program (FY 09-10) <br />$20, 000 <br />Section 6. The finance officer is hereby directed to maintain within the grant project specific detailed <br />accounting records to provide the accounting to the grantor agency required by the grant <br />agreement and federal and state regulations. <br />Section 7. Copies of this grant project ordinance shall be made available to the finance officer for <br />direction in carrying out this project. <br />Section 8. This ordinance supersedes all previous "Specialty Crops Grant" Grant Project <br />Ordinances. <br />Section 9. This project ordinance is in effect until December 31, 2010. <br />g <br />Adopted this 20th day of April 2010. <br />
