NACo ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS <br />1. Senior Times Newspaper <br />Chair Carey recognized the Department on Aging and <br />cooperating organizations that helped produce the Senior Times Newspaper: <br />A Public-Private Partnership which was awarded a 1995 National Association <br />of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award. The Department on Aging Director <br />Jerry Passmore was presented the plaque for his outstanding leadership for <br />this publication. The recipients who received a certificate for their <br />contribution are listed below: <br />Herald-Sun Newspaper Kim Johnson <br />Chapel Hill Recreation and Parks Mike Loveman <br />Carrboro Recreation and Parks Richard Kinney <br />Orange County Recreation and Parks Bob Jones <br />Friends of the Chapel Hill Senior Center Elmer Oettinger <br />Chapel Hill Camera Club Len Jacobs <br />2. Triangle SportsPlex Financing <br />Chair Carey recognized the Triangle SportsPlex and Orange <br />County for their innovative approach to financing a $10.2 million complex <br />which provides services to all of Orange County's citizens, young and old. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis, member of the Triangle SportsPlex Board, accepted <br />the plaque on behalf of the Triangle SportsPlex and John Link accepted the <br />plaque on behalf of Orange County. <br />VIII.
