8
It was decided that John Link will take these comments and questions to
the extended Department Head meeting this Friday and bring back their
comments to the Board of County Commissioners.
Commissioner Willhoit suggested that the County review the
programs that won NACo recognition for specific ideas about cost
savings and efficiency. He agrees with going ahead with the survey.
John Link will bring back to the Board a listing of projects
that show efficiencies that have been implemented.
A motion was made by Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by
Commissioner Halkiotis to pursue the service quality approach to the
extent outlined above, and to prepare a list of NACo projects that show
efficiencies.
VOTE: UNANIMOUS
B. ANNUAL TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS
Transportation Planner Slade McCalip presented a report on
the N.C. Department of Transportation's annual State Transportation
Improvement Program and the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan
Transportation Improvement Program. He asked for suggestions of
projects to include or exclude from the plan.
Commissioner Crowther suggested asking DOT to evaluate the
speed limit at NC57 and NC157 and Guess Road and the Efland-Cedar Grove
Road and Carr Store Road intersection. Both of these intersections
still seem to be high accident areas. Also, the road needs to be
improved on NC57 approaching that intersection.
Slade McCalip will work with Commissioner Gordon on this
proposal and bring back for Board approval on October 2.
XI.
