6 <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />B. BID AWARD FOR JAIL/COURTHOUSE - CONTRACT AND FUNDING APPROVAL <br />Purchasing Director Pam Jones summarized the pertinent <br />information on these two projects. She noted the advantages of having <br />one contractor do both buildings and that the construction time is ten <br />months. It is recommended that the County pursue installment purchase <br />financing to supplement available funds for construction/renovation of <br />the County Jail, Courthouse and Southern Human Services Center. The <br />financing will be through private placement and include $1.5 million <br />for the Jail/Courthouse Project and $500,000 for the Southern Human <br />Services Center. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by <br />Chair Carey to (1) award the bid to Trafalgar House Construction for an <br />amount not to exceed $3,408,642, (2} approve contracts contingent upon <br />Attorney and Staff review and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of <br />the Board, (3) approve the proposed funding scenario and authorize <br />Staff to prepare the appropriate budget modification documents for <br />Board approval at a later meeting and (4) authorize $500,000 additional <br />funds for Southern Human Services Building to be obtained through <br />private placement in early, 1996. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />C. BID AWARD-PERSONAL COMPUTERS FOR DATA PROCESSING <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Crowther, seconded by <br />Commissioner Willhoit to award the bid to P.C. Innovations of Cary, <br />North Carolina at a delivered cost of $1,099.00 each for 486 DX2/66 Mhz <br />personal computers, $1,403.00 each for Pentium 90 personal computers, <br />and $6,247.0 for LAN File Servers. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />D. 1995-96 COMMISSIONERS' GOALS <br />This item was removed and will be considered at the next <br />regular meeting scheduled for September 20, 1995. <br />E. FARMLP,ND PRESERVATION WORKSHOP <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Crowther, seconded by <br />Commissioner Willhoit to approve funding from the Commissioners' <br />Contingency Fund of $3,040 to fund a series of Farmland Preservation <br />Workshops. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />F. WILDLIFE HABITAT STUDY <br />Planning Director Marvin Collins explained that this Wildlife <br />Habitat Study would be conducted by the Triangle Land Conservancy. A <br />biologist will be employed by the Conservancy to direct the study and <br />the activities will be directed by an Oversight Committee comprised of <br />three Conservancy members. Livy Ludington of the Triangle Land <br />Conservancy was present to answer several questions from the <br />Commissioners. <br />
