Crowther, Alice M. Gordon, Stephen H. <br />Halkiotis and Don Willhoit. <br />COUNTY ATTORNEY PRESENT: Douq Thoren <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr., <br />Assistant County Managers Albert Kittrell and Rod Visser, and Clerk to <br />the Board Beverly A. Blythe (other staff members are identified <br />appropriately below) <br />NOTE: All documents referred to in these minutes are in the permanent <br />agenda file in the Clerk's office. All amendments to County ordinances <br />are placed in the Ordinance Book in the County Commissioners' library. <br />I. ADDITIONS OR CHANGES TO THE AGENDA <br />The name of Barbara Overby was withdrawn from consideration for <br />appointment to the Triangle J EMS. A discussion on the proposed <br />Innovation/efficiency committee was added at the end of the agenda if <br />time allows. <br />II. AUDIENCE COMMENTS <br />A. MATTERS ON THE PRINTED AGENDA - NONE <br />B. MATTERS NOT ON THE PRINTED AGENDA - NONE <br />PUBLIC CHARGE <br />Chair Carey dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br />III. BOARD COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Gordon told the Board about the Eno Drive <br />controversy and said that a citizens group will be formed to develop a <br />recommendation for this area. That recommendation will be forwarded to <br />the Department of Transportation for their consideration. <br />Commissioner Halkiotis noted that traffic on New Hope Church <br />Road has increased because of the opening of the new A. L. Stanback <br />School. He suggested that the speed limit be reduced to 45 mph and <br />that the area be monitored by the Sheriff's Department. <br />Chair Carey made reference to a letter from OWASA about the <br />possibility of OWASA providing water to Chatham County. He asked that <br />the County Commissioners share their comments/concerns with him so he <br />can respond. Commissioner Willhoit said that the concerns are the same <br />as they were some years ago when this issue was raised. Those concerns <br />include land use issues and watershed protection. <br />Chair Carey made reference to a public hearing being held by the <br />Town of Chapel Hill on their proposed Northwest Small Area Plan. Chair <br />Carey and Commissioner Gordon will attend that meeting. <br />
