Bill Baxter--~iair of the Hur~en Serv~.ces Advisory C~anission <br />spoke in favor of om*~~n~ting efforts for better fimcling and sexvioa de- <br />livery to human service agencies. <br />Ms. Peggy ~llitzer-Past Chair of the Himian Services Advisory f~n- <br />mi ssion-spoke for staff rig assistance fmn the CoLmty' far this Cca~mission. <br />And agreed with Mr. Baxter regarding coo*~..rnw.+-~ of effort. <br />Mr. Frank Ray--Spoke an favor of funding for the Veterans' Servaae <br />Officer. <br />Ms. Ieve~-Spoke iri fawr of full funding fnr the C~iapel Hill-Cazxboxo <br />schools . <br />Dr. Mike Sim'nons-Superintendent of the Change County Schools, spoke <br />;n favor of replacesexit of Stanback school and requested funds to begin the <br />planning and land aoquisit~orl process fox' that xoplaCement. <br />Ms. Phyllis Sockwell---L'hair of the Chapel Hi11-Carrboro Board of Education, <br />expressed her concern far the maintPnan~ of investments for that school sys- <br />tem. <br />Ms. Verla Insko-Member of the Board of Educat~an of ~tlie Chapel HIll- <br />Carrboro systen, Said they needed a large amount of unappropriated func. <br />balance in arder to have a cash flow for the outreach project and to pay <br />teachers before the supplemantal tax was received each year. <br />Ms. Jan Schopler--glair of the Board of Social Services, spoke in <br />favor of maintenance of level of protective services and asked for equitable <br />across the Board cuts when they arrive in Octobax and noted that tt~e Social <br />Services budget was wera7l oarisarvative. <br />Ms. Canter- Pt~sident of the Chapel Hill-Carrboxv Classrcxxn Teachers, <br />s: <br />was in favor of funding at the full level for that school system. <br />
