3 <br />E. APPOINTMENTS <br />1. Manager <br />A motion was made by <br />Commissioner Gordon to appoint John <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by <br />M. Link, Jr. as County Manager. <br />2. Clerk to the Board <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner <br />Halkiotis to appoint Beverly A. Blythe as Clerk to the Board. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />3. County Attorney <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by <br />Commissioner Gordon to continue the County's association with the firm of <br />Coleman, Gledhill and Hargrave for services as the County Attorney. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />4. BOCC Participation on Boards and Commissions <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner <br />Halkiotis to approve the County Commissioners participation on boards and <br />commissions as stated on the list attached to these minutes on page <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />REGIILAR AGENDA <br />I. ADDITIONS OR CHANGES TO THE AGENDA <br />1. A report on the EMS Strategic Plan was added as item C under <br />"Reports" <br />2. CBA Expansion Allocation was added as item K on the Consent Agenda. <br />3. Consent item J - Meeting Calendar was removed. <br />comments will be recognized at the appropriate time. <br />II. AUDIENCE COMMENTS <br />A. MATTERS ON THE PRINTED AGENDA <br />Chair Carey said that those who have indicated a desire to make <br />B. MATTERS NOT ON THE PRINTED AGENDA <br />Aviva Enoch presented a petition with 144 signatures as stated <br />below: <br />"Orange County's hunting laws are among the most permissive in <br />North Carolina. Hunters currently are entitled to shoot high- <br />powered rifles dangerously close to residential areas. Stray <br />bullets from these guns can travel for over a mile and pass through <br />and close to people's yards. We, the undersigned Orange County <br />citizens feel strongly that this threatens the safety of our <br />neighborhood and endangers the lives of our children and pets. We <br />urge the Orange County Commissioners to act quickly to reform our <br />hunting laws -- following examples set in many other parts of the <br />state, including Wake and Chatham Counties." <br />
