LJ <br />;F <br />JUNE 9, 1981 <br />a <br />The Qrange Oaunty Board of CcRZnissioner met. in special session <br />on Tuesday, June 9, 1981, at 7:30 P:M. i11 the Meeting Roan of the <br />Chapel .Hill Municipal Building, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. - <br />Qar~unissioners present: Commissioner Acme Barnes, Chair, and Corte <br />missioners Noy cn,Gtavescx~, Richard G~fiitted a~ Uan Wi].lhoit. <br />Commissioners absent: Commissioner Norman Wa]kax. <br />Commissioner Barnes presided over the meeting and stated the purpose <br />of the meeting vhich liras budget requests presentations and work sessions <br />on areas as indicated within the text of the minutes ]~elow.Addi_tionally, C~n- <br />~ missioner Baines announced that the Board and Staff would he available <br />a <br />E for q~xestions following the meeting. <br />;ds. Janet Color anci Ms. 1]ekabie Skaradzinski presented the budget re- <br />~ quest for the Rape Crisis Center. Upon learning that the funding was <br />v <br />channe?ed directly to Rape Crisis rather than through OFC Mental Health, <br />the Board said that ~ra$ in eantradicti_on to their instructions of the pre- ,... <br />vious year. The Board specifically instructed the funding to be channeled <br />., <br />n <br />~ through OF.: Mental Health in order to provide accountability. The Board <br />i indicated that it wished a contract far such sezvices drawn up and in- <br />' dicate:: t~'1at a letter to that agency ;(QPC-Mental Health) should c[~~ fra~n <br />3 <br />k <br />tJ.2is Board detailing its desires. 7'he Board thanked Ms. Color, Ms. Skaradzinski <br />and M3. kiardir~ (who also joined in the presentation) for their presentation.. <br />1 Ms. Karen Getteraway and Ms. Connie Renz presented the budget request <br />far tt~ Coalition for Battered P:a^~~. Th~ Coalition told the Board of <br />i <br />' its funding sources and the amounts fx~n each. The Hoard instructed the <br />Staff to arrange far the soma funding procedure for the Coalition as it <br />eras instructed to arrange far the Rape Crisi$ Gerater, i.e., accountability <br />through OPC Mental Health. <br />The Health Departm?nt budget request was presented by Mr. Jerry <br />Robinson, Director, Mary Anne Popovich, Staff, and Board of Health nembPxs <br />Ms. Ann Woodward and Ms. Evelyn Lloyd. At the Board's request, Mr. Hinson <br />.went through the budget reauest by line item, indicating revenues, and <br />_ i <br />E exper_ditur2s; noting the areas which would be cut by reduced funding and <br /> <br />
