1 <br /> APPROVED 2/15194 MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> JANUARY 18, 1994 <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on <br /> Tuesday, January 18, 1994 at 7:30 p.m. in the OWASA Community Meeting Room, <br /> Carrboro, North Carolina. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Moses Carey, Jr. , and Commissioners <br /> Alice M. Gordon, Stephen H. Halkiotis, Verla C. Insko and Don Willhoit. <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEY PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill <br /> STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr. , Assistant County <br /> Managers Albert Kittrell and Rod Visser, Economic Development Director Ted <br /> Abernathy, Clerk to the Board Beverly A. Blythe, Finance Director Ken <br /> Chavious, Planning Director Marvin Collins, Purchasing and Central Services <br /> Director Pam Jones, Planner Eddie Kirk, Transportation Planner Slade McCalip, <br /> Social Services Director Marti Pryor-Cook, EMS Director of Administration <br /> Jeanette Smith, County Fire Marshall Mike Tapp, County Engineer Paul Thames, <br /> and EMS Director Nick Waters <br /> I. ADDITIONS OR CHANGES TO THE AGENDA <br /> The Chair added to the meeting four (4) petitions for addition to the <br /> state maintained road system as Consent Agenda items M, N, O, and P. <br /> Appointments to the Small Area Planning Committee were added under item <br /> XI. <br /> The Board accepted corrections to the minutes for January 4 , 1994 and <br /> removed from the agenda the minutes for December 21, 1993 . <br /> Commissioner Gordon deleted from the appointments on the Consent Agenda <br /> the appointments for the Board of Adjustment. <br /> II. AUDIENCE COMMENTS <br /> A. MATTERS ON THE PRINTED AGENDA <br /> Chair Carey said that those citizens who have indicated a desire <br /> to speak will be recognized at the appropriate time. <br /> B. MATTERS NOT ON THE PRINTED AGENDA - NONE <br /> PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> Chair Carey dispensed with the reading of the Public Charge. <br /> III. BOARD COMMENTS <br /> Commissioner Gordon made reference to her request for a report on the <br /> activities of the Township Advisory Committees and County Manager John Link <br /> indicated that the report will be on the next agenda. <br /> Chair Carey made reference to an invitation from OWASA for two County <br /> Commissioners to attend a special session on failing non-municipal wastewater <br /> systems and the implications for service area policies in Orange County . <br /> This is scheduled for Saturday, February 5 between 10: 00 a.m. and 12: 00 noon. <br /> I <br />
