Ms. Gee read a resolutio~- which had <br />been passed by the Town of Chapel Hill Co~uicil that requested .Orange County <br />assume sponsorship of RSVP under the DepartAt~ent on Aging and fund RSVP at <br />$1,198 for the coming fiscal year. The Board asked hvw the RSVP Advisory <br />Board was chosen and who would name members to that Roaxd. Ms. Cie was <br />uncertain. There was a question as to whether or not the Orange County <br />SC ninr ~tyz~s Bcard could serve as the RS(7P Advisory Co~mcil. Co~nissianex <br />Willhoit mnved to earmark $10,198 for RSVP ia1 the budget and to bring it <br />back for further discussion and research for the unanswered ruestions. a~n- <br />missioner Gustaveson s~oonded the motion. After discussion, Cr~mris'sioner <br />Willhoit withdrew his motion. The Board did reach a consensus that Mr. <br />Gatos should meet Friday morning (June 12) at ]1 A.M. with the staff of <br />R:"'VP and a representative of the AdV.sory Wunci_]. to discuss the County <br />assuming sponsorship of Fc$VP. <br />HIS. Mary Boone presented the Chapel Hill Library budget request to the <br />Roar. She noted they were requesting about a 10$ increase. O~rnnissicner <br />Barccces rested that a year ago the County appropriated money and ~,psted <br />that it either seat a m~mipr of the Board of Camussa.oners or appoint some- <br />one to the Trustees for the Library. Mr. Harris of the Trustees said Qzapel <br />Hill 'Ibwn Council had not acted on the request however, it was agreeable t4 <br />( <br />3 the Trustees to have the County appoint a member. <br />Ms. Nancy Massey, Regional Director of the xyconeechee Library, trade <br />its budget presentation to the Board. Ms. Massey said they needed their <br />entire request just to maintain services. mere was sorry discussion of the <br />i <br />i <br />~ amount of money the Tawas of Hillsborough gives to the Library;•tne Board <br />noted tine Library served Hillsborough residents and was located inside <br />Hillsborough. <br />The Board thanked the Libraries for their pz~esentations. <br />~Ir. Ray spoke in favor of the Manager's rec~rendation of a full- <br />time Veterans': Service Officer for the County; in addition, he suggested <br />the Offices be given sane clerical help too. die Manager said he antici- <br />pared the Veterans' Service Officer possessing clerical skills. <br />AIr. Wayne Weston, 2~creation Director, presented the P.ecreation I~- <br />Za~rtment's budget to the Board, noting this budget was 1.3~ decrease over <br />
