~~ <br />'1~ <br />~ ' 1. v <br />a <br />F <br />k <br />: <br />y <br />L. <br />z <br />1 <br />i <br />wl .. <br />k <br />s <br />c <br />1, <br />MINUTES <br />JUNE 2, 1981 <br /> <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session <br />Tuesday, June 2, 1981, at 7:30 P.M. in the Commissioners' Room, Orange <br />County Courthouse, Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners present: Co-nmissioner Anne Barnes, Chair, and <br />Commissioners Norman austaveson, Richard LJhitted and Don Wi1lhoit. <br />Commissioners absent: Commissioner Norman Walker. <br />Commissioner Whitted presided in the temporary absence of <br />Commissioner Barnes. The purpose of the meeting was a general work session <br />on the budget and the Capital Improvements Plan for Fiscal 19$y $2. <br />The County Manager and Finance Director presented the budget <br />for 1981-82 to the Board and explained changes and/or additions from the <br />previous year. The Acting Assistant County Manager and Personnel Director <br />also directed the Board's attention to changes and/or additions in this <br />proposed budget. The Finance Director reviewed the general fund revenues <br />-with the Board. <br />The Board asked the Finance Director to provide fund balances <br />for the fire districts and placed the fire districts on the agenda for <br />June 11, 1981, and instructed the Clerk to notify them. <br />The Board agreed to place the Veteran's Office on the June 8 <br />Agenda and the Register of Deeds on June 15; the Clerk was instructed to <br />notify Mr. Ray and Ms. Hayes, in that order. <br />Ca ital Im rovements Pro ram <br />The Finance Director told the Board those items it had listed <br />as priorities in its meeting on April 13, 1981, would cost approximately <br />$131,000. Referring to Nlr. Passmore's request on behalf of the Senior <br />Citizens' Board for renovation of office space at the Northside Center, <br />The Board felt that it would perhaps be a waste of money to begin with some <br />renovations and then renovate at a later time. The Board reached a con- <br />sensus that it would like same specific figures detailing cost of renovation, <br />rewiring, plumbing & structural evaluation of the existing building with no <br />new construction.
