5 <br />Whereas, diabetes awareness and education can lessen or prevent the <br />complications associated with diabetes and through diabetes awareness and <br />education, the person with diabetes can gain better health, peace of mind, and <br />an active lifestyle. Also, diabetes awareness and education can help persons <br />with diabetes live more independent and fulfilling lives; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners that the month of November, 1993 be designated as National <br />Diabetes Month and that the people of Orange County be requested to observe <br />the month with appropriate ceremonies and activities. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />C. PROCLAMATION FOR NATIONAL HOME CARE WEER <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by <br />Commissioner Gordon to proclaim the week of November 28, 1993 through December <br />4, 1993 as "National Home Care Week" as stated below and authorize the Chair <br />to sign. <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />National Some Care Week <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Orange County have benefited from the <br />advantages of home care for decades. As an alternative to institutional care, <br />home care fosters a sense of independence and self-respect by affording <br />patients the right to receive services in the comfort of their homes, with the <br />reassurance and companionship of family and friends, and <br />WHEREAS, through the dedication and caring of Orange County home care <br />providers and caregivers, a wide variety of home care services are available <br />to our citizens. Home care allows quality care to be brought to all those in <br />need: the young and old, indigent and wealthy, urban and rural. By caring <br />for the individual at home, home care not only strengthens the family bond, <br />but serves as a cost-effective method of care by avoiding unnecessary <br />institutional care, and <br />WHEREAS, home care providers are recognized for their meaningful work <br />with our ill and disabled citizens. Through the special relationships formed <br />between patient and caregiver, a better quality of life and sense of dignity <br />are achieved by many Orange County residents each year, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners, do hereby proclaim November 28 through December 4, 1993 as <br />"National Home Care Week" in Orange County and urge our citizens to recognize <br />the efforts of home care providers and the families and friends of the elderly <br />and disabled who provide important services in the home. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I hereunto set my hands and affixed the seal of <br />Orange County, this First Day of November, Nineteen Hundred and Ninety-Three. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />V.
