4 <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> IN <br /> RECOGNITION OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY <br /> IN <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> WHEREAS, Martin Luther King, Jr. was instrumental in the struggle for human <br /> rights worldwide, and <br /> WHEREAS, Martin Luther King, Jr. was the inspiration for civil rights <br /> leaders nationwide, and <br /> WHEREAS, Martin Luther King, Jr. believed in civil rights for all people, <br /> particularly for people of African-American origin, and <br /> WHEREAS, Many jurisdictions nationwide recognize the great legacy to mankind <br /> inherent in the work and teaching of Martin Luther King, Jr. by <br /> observing a day in his honor, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> proclaim January 18, 1993 as Martin Luther Ring, Jr. Day in Orange <br /> County. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners asks the <br /> community to join in honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. and to <br /> incorporate his goal and dream of civil rights for all into their <br /> lives. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> V. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br /> A. CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION FROM THE GOVERNOR FOR HURRICANE <br /> ANDREW RELIEF <br /> Governor Martin signed a certificate of appreciation for Orange <br /> County for its assistance with the response to Hurricane Andrew. Mr. Bill <br /> Gentry from the State Office of Emergency Management presented the certificate <br /> to the County on behalf of the Governor. <br /> VI. PUBLIC HEARINGS - NONE <br /> VII. REPORTS <br /> A. CHANGES IN PROPERTY TAB LISTING REQUIREMENTS <br /> John Link stated that all Orange County taxpayers will receive <br /> their listing document for 1993 this week. One of the significant changes is <br /> that taxpayers no longer must list motor vehicles. A newspaper advertisement <br /> will explain in detail this and other changes in the tax listing. Also a <br /> question and answer document has been prepared to answer those most asked <br /> questions. Rod Visser outlined the changes between the 1992 tax listing form <br /> and the one for 1993. This item was presented for information only. <br /> B. FACILITIES PLAN - DOWNTOWN HILLSBOROUGH CAMPUS <br /> Pam Jones summarized the information that was in the agenda <br /> abstract. The reallocation of space will address Court and County Department <br /> needs. Work will begin in January on several components of the facilities <br /> plan. <br />
