9 <br />~Q~ ~~° <br />Commissioner Barnes told the audience that in the absence of a zoning <br />ordinance for Orange County, Mr, Hazard had applied for a building permit <br />and received it. She noted that between 2 to 3 years work had gone into <br />the proposed zoning ordinance which would zone the area aSricultural~ <br />residential and that was the plan presently before the Board. Com- <br />' missioner Barnes said decisions would "be made in a planning context." <br />Commissioner Barnes recognized those opposed to the location of the <br />° Midway Airport and Industrial Park. <br />° Mr. John Kizer: Resident of Bingham Township: He spoke as a representative <br />of homeowners in the area who are opposed to the airport location in their <br />• Township, (For a copy of Mr. Kizer's remarks, see page 4f this <br />• book.) <br />dr. Logan Irvin: Noted the probable impact the airport and industrial park <br />would have on the resevoir proposed for Cane Creek. <br />Mr. Wilson: Noted concerns of low flying planes and noise. <br />` Mr. Watts Hill, Jr „ of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce: <br />Presented the Board with a copy of the Resolution passed by the Chamber of <br />Commerce and same remarks endorsed by the Chamber (For a copy of both the <br />° Resolution and Mr. Hi11's comments, see page of this book). <br />Commissioner Barnes thanked those who had attended and those who <br />spoke at the meeting; she invited them to remain for the work session. <br />Commissioner Walker left the meeting before the work session began. <br />I~ Commissioner Whitted asked Mr. Polatty, Planning pirector, if those <br />P <br />establishments which would be non-conforming under the proposed zoning ord- <br />i <br />~ finance had been notified of their status should the ordinance be passed <br />i <br />as presented; Mr. Polatty was unsure. Corr~nissioner Whitted requested all <br />such establishments be notified of their non-conforming status. <br />~ The Board asked Mr. Polatt to . <br />y get mare airport criteria and to be <br />as specific as possible without being too limiting. <br />Mr. Polatty noted that the Planning Board recommended June 15 for a ~-- <br />Public Hearing on the Zoning Ordinance.
