9 <br />The Board approved that the farm owned by Victor Carl Walters, <br />Jr. and Elizabeth T. Walters be designated as a voluntary agricultural <br />district and that the Chair be authorized to sign the conservation <br />agreement, subject to the approval of the form and content of the <br />agreement by the Agricultural Districts Advisory Board. <br />GG. Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Issues <br />The Board approved the following recommendations: <br />1. STATIIS OF PROJECT R-2630 <br />The Board will ask that the June 17 letter from Gene Bell <br />to Mark Ahrendsen on the subject of "Clarification on R-2630 in the Draft <br />1993-97 TIP" be included as part of the attachments from Orange County in <br />the TIP document. <br />2. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR I-85 WEST OF HILLSBOROUGH <br />The Board authorized the Chair to send a letter to the <br />appropriate authorities in the Department of Transportation requesting <br />that the same requirements added by the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro <br />Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) for I-85 east of Hillsborough also <br />be added to the TIP for the section of I-85 in Orange County west of <br />Hillsborough. <br />3. CONSTRUCTION OF ADEQUATE BMP~S FOR I-85 IN ORANGE COUNTY <br />The Board will support a meeting which is scheduled between <br />NCDOT, Town of Hillsborough and County staff for July 13 to discuss the <br />widening project. Staff will reiterate Board concerns that BMP's be <br />installed in conjunction with the project. <br />VOTE ON THE CONSENT AGENDA: UNANIMOUS <br />IV. RESOLIITIONjPROCLAMATIONB - NONE <br />V. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />A. Distinguished Budget Presentation Award <br />Chair Carey presented to Sally Kost the Distinguished Budget <br />Presentation Award which is the highest form of recognition in <br />governmental budgeting. He expressed his appreciation for the work that <br />she and her staff did to improve the budget document and for answering all <br />the questions and handling all the demands put on the Budget Department <br />by the Board of County Commissioners. <br />VI. Landfill Bite Selection Process <br />John Link explained that this report was prepared in an effort <br />to answer questions from the governing boards and citizens on the landfill <br />selection process. Bruce Heflin gave an overview of the process they have <br />followed which is contained in the report and the process from here on. <br />Four areas have been selected for further onsite testing.
