PROCLAMATION FOR ORANGE SENIOR GAMES <br /> 3 Motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner <br /> 4 Halkiotis to approve the Proclamation for Orange Senior Games as stated <br /> 5 below: <br /> 6 PROCLAMATION <br /> 7 ORANGE COUNTY SENIOR GAMES EVENTS DAYS <br /> 8 <br /> 9 WHEREAS, According to recent population figures, there are almost 14, 000 <br /> 10 persons over 55 years of age in Orange County; and <br /> 11 <br /> 12 WHEREAS, Orange County is concerned about the health, fitness, and social <br /> 13 well-being of its older adult population; and <br /> 14 <br /> 15 WHEREAS, Orange County Senior Games provides a special opportunity for <br /> 16 older adults to grow positively in the areas of health, fitness, <br /> 17 and social well-being; and <br /> 18 <br /> 19 WHEREAS, Orange County would like to encourage local business and resident <br /> 20 support and participation from county residents age 55 and older; <br /> 21 <br /> 22 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Orange County Board of <br /> 23 Commissioners declares April 27 - May 2, 1992 as Orange County <br /> 24 Senior Games Events Days and encourages citizens age 55 and over <br /> 25 to participate. <br /> 26 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 27 <br /> 28 <br /> 29 B. NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK PROCLAMATION <br /> 30 Motion was made by Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by Commissioner <br /> 31 Halkiotis to approve the Proclamation for National Public Safety <br /> 32 Telecommunicators Week as stated below. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK PROCLAMATION <br /> 35 <br /> 36 WHEREAS, Thousands of dedicated Telecommunicators daily serve the citizens <br /> 37 of the United States and Canada by answering their telephone calls <br /> 38 for police, fire and emergency medical services by dispatching the <br /> 39 appropriate assistance as quickly as possible; and <br /> 40 <br /> 41 WHEREAS, The critical functions performed by professional Telecommunicators <br /> 42 also include those related to forestry and conservation <br /> 43 operations, highway safety and maintenance activities, and many <br /> 44 other operations performed by federal, state and local government <br /> 45 agencies; and <br /> 46 <br /> 47 WHEREAS, Professional Telecommunicators work to improve the emergency <br /> 48 response capabilities of these communication systems through their <br /> 49 leadership and participation in training programs and other <br /> 50 activities provided by the associated Public-Safety Communications <br /> 51 Officers, Inc. ; and <br /> 52 <br />
