787 <br /> individual refuses to resign, he or she may be dismissed <br /> by action of the Board of County Commissioners subject to <br /> 4111 state or local law. A calendar year is to be defined as <br /> a 12-month period beginning on the date of appointment. <br /> If a board or commission has in their bylaws a policy <br /> which is more stringent than this policy, it may stand. <br /> For those boards and commissions without an attendance <br /> policy, this policy will prevail. The Clerk to the Board <br /> shall request all new appointees to certify that he/she <br /> understands the attendance policy. This policy may be <br /> waived if the Board of Commissioners determines that the <br /> removal of an individual made ineligible by this policy <br /> would be detrimental to the functioning of that board or <br /> commission. <br /> 8. The rate of pay, if any, to members for serving on boards <br /> and commissions shall be established by the Board of <br /> Commissioners in accordance with the General Statutes. <br /> Records for pay purposes shall be, submitted by the <br /> appropriate department to the finance Officer for monthly <br /> disbursement. <br /> 9 . Orientation training will be offered to all new <br /> appointees to the Boards and Commissions which are <br /> ongoing. This does not include those boards and <br /> commissions, task forces or committees of short duration. <br /> . The orientation will be offered twice a year in January <br /> and July. Other training will be offered during the <br /> year. The purpose of this training is to supplement <br /> rather than replace any specific training needed for a <br /> person to serve on a particular board or commission. <br /> 10. Individuals who go off of a board or commission will be <br /> recognized at the annual Volunteer Recognition dinner. A <br /> person must serve at least one year to be recognized in <br /> this way. County Commissioners will continue to send <br /> letters of appreciation to board and commission members. <br /> Each board and commission may recognize its members as it <br /> deems appropriate. <br /> 11. The Board of Commissioners reserves the right, at any <br /> time and for any reason, to remove any member of any <br /> board or commission when a motion for removal receives <br /> the vote of a majority of the entire membership of the <br /> Board. <br /> This policy shall become effective upon enactment. All subsequent <br /> appointments to boards and commissions by the Board of <br /> Commissioners shall be carried out under the provisions of this <br /> policy. <br /> III1 <br />
