PROCLAMATION OF APRIL. 1992 AS SOCIAL SERVICES EMPLOYEES <br />2 APPRECIATION MONTH IN ORANGE COUNTY <br />3 Motion was made by Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by Commissioner <br />4 Gordon to proclaim April as Social Services Employees Appreciation Month in <br />5 Orange County and authorize the Chair to sign. The Proclamation is stated <br />6 below: <br />7 PROCLAMATION <br />8 SOCIAL SERVICES EMPLOYEES APPRECIATION MONTH <br />9 <br />10 WHEREAS, Social Services Employees administer a wide range of service <br />11 programs designed to provide Orange County citizens basic <br />12 resources and social work services to maximize their well-being <br />13 and self determination, and <br />14 WHEREAS, Social Services Employees act on behalf of all citizens to prevent <br />15 abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children and disabled adults, <br />16 and when necessary, intervene to protect them; and, <br />17 WHEREAS, Social Services Employees are caring professionals who are <br />18 committed to serving Orange County citizens in a compassionate, <br />19 confidential manner; and, <br />20 WHEREAS, Orange County wishes to set aside a special month to recognize the <br />21 vital contributions of Social Services Employees in Orange County; <br />22 and, <br />23 NOW, THERE FORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners proclaim <br />24 April, 1992 as "Social Services Employees Appreciation Month" in <br />25 .Orange County, and urge all citizens to join us in honoring our <br />26 Social Services Employees. <br />27 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />28 <br />29 <br />30 C. PROCLAMATION OF PUBLIC HEALTH WEER <br />31 Motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Chairman Carey <br />32 to proclaim April 5 through April 11, 1992 as Public Health Week and <br />33 authorize the Chair to sign. The Proclamation is stated below: <br />34 <br />35 PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK <br />36 PROCLAMATION FROM THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />37 <br />38 WHEREAS, The State of North Carolina has adopted the week of April 5 <br />39 through April 11, 1992, as Public Health Week in North Carolina; <br />40 and <br />41 WHEREAS, The public health facilities in Orange County serve thousands of <br />42 our citizens each year; and <br />43 WHEREAS, Public health assures a cleaner, safer, more wholesome environment <br />44 in which to live; and <br />45 WHEREAS, Healthful living is the major prevention of the financial burdens <br />46 of disease and chronic illness; and <br />47 WHEREAS, Concerned, informed and active citizens will ensure a healthy <br />48 future for Orange County; <br />49 THEREFORE, We hereby proclaim April 5 through April 11, 1992 as PUBLIC HEALTH <br />50 WEEK in Orange County, with the theme "Healthy Living." <br />51 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />52 <br />
