6. EMS personnel have the responsibility of <br /> transporting the deceased once the Law Enforcement <br /> has released the body or been told to transport by <br /> the Medical Examiner. <br /> PROCEDURE: CRIME SCENE ENVIRONMENT <br /> For the purpose of procedure, crime scene environment refers <br /> to any unattended death, death by violent acts and death <br /> occurring under any unnatural or suspicious circumstances. <br /> The EMS personnel will verify death by the accepted criteria <br /> and have the responsibility to recognize those deaths that <br /> are under the authority of the Medical Examiner pursuant to <br /> general statue. 138-383 <br /> 1. Notify the appropriate Law Enforcement Agency. <br /> 2 . Do not cover or move the body or any items around <br /> the body. <br /> 3 . Withdraw from the scene and establish a perimeter <br /> that would secure and protect the body and all areas <br /> surrounding the body. <br /> 4 . EMS personnel should make arrangements for transport <br /> with the Law Enforcement Agency conducting the <br /> investigation and/or to be called back to make <br /> transport if needed. <br /> _1r 3 <br />
