ti eJ V 3 <br /> The funeral home should provide all transportation <br /> services for the family including the morgue if <br /> necessary. <br /> 5. If the Medical Examiner is to certify death, <br /> ascertain whether he wishes to come view the body <br /> at the scene or whether the body is to removed to <br /> some other location. <br /> 6. EMS personnel should provide support to the family <br /> and be sensitive to their need. The body should be <br /> placed in a position of dignity and properly <br /> covered. The EMS personnel should be prepared to <br /> stay with the body and/or family until the funeral <br /> home arrives, however, if the time of arrival is <br /> lengthy, EMS should consider transport. <br /> PROCEDURE: VIOLENT DEATH ENVIRONMENT (ACCIDENTAL. SUICIDE) <br /> For the purpose of this procedure, violent death environment <br /> refers to motor vehicle casualties, suicide, farm accident, <br /> industrial or construction incidents or any incident that <br /> death occurs which is not a crime scene (suspicious of <br /> homicide) . <br /> The EMS personnel will verify death by the accepted criteria <br /> and have the responsibility to recognize those deaths that <br /> are under the authority of the Medical Examiner pursuant to <br /> general statue. 138-383 <br /> 1. The body should be covered and protected from public <br /> view. <br /> 2 . The appropriate Law Enforcement Agency should be <br /> notified of the fatality, by requesting <br /> communication to relay the information. <br /> 3 . The Medical Examiner should be notified by the Law <br /> Enforcement Agency conducting the investigation, or <br /> at their request. <br /> 4 . Rescue efforts, extracation, or body removal should <br /> be conducted only after approval of the Medical <br /> Examiner or in an emergent situation by the Law <br /> Enforcement Agency conducting the investigation. <br /> 5. EMS should be prepared to remain on the scene unless <br /> time is going to be extended longer than one hour <br /> and permission to leave has be obtained from the Law <br /> Enforcement Agency conducting the investigation. <br /> 2 <br />
