2 <br /> The Transportation Specialist classification was responsible for the Department's <br /> p Wheels to <br /> Work program. This program was terminated June 30, 2009. <br /> This .75 FTE position is responsible for ensuring he food service meets the <br /> g nutritional <br /> guidelines set forth by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services and the kitchen <br /> maintains cleanliness set forth by the Orange County Health Department. Additionally this <br /> position is responsible for completing the required paperwork needed to receive funds from the <br /> federal grant. <br /> Transportation Assistant Administrator Position 407 <br /> The Department also requests that BOCC modify the Transportation Assistant Administrator <br /> for <br /> grade 12 to grade 15. This request is a result of realignment of functions retirement and <br /> g , <br /> change in responsibilities. The Transportation Assistant Administrator now p rovides technical <br /> and operations oversight for the transportation division. This includes 15 transportation drivers <br /> and 1 administrative assistant. In reviewing similar transit positions at Triangle Transit and with <br /> the Town of Chapel Hill, the position is under the salary range for hiring nd retention. The <br /> g <br /> Transportation Assistant Administrator works conjunctly with the Transportation Administrator <br /> . p <br /> and assists with budgeting, planning and federal compliance for all safe mandates. These <br /> . safety <br /> positions are more parallel than different and the gap between the two does not factor internal <br /> equity in terms of roles and responsibilities. Additionally, other positions in County's grade 15 <br /> directly supervise on average 1-6 employees. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The reclassification of the Transportation Specialist will result in a cost <br /> savings of $'15,559. The federal/state grant funds 100% of the Food Service Coordinator <br /> position and has been included in the departmental appropriations in the BOCC approved <br /> budget for FY 2009-10. <br /> The reclassification of Transportation Assistant Administrator from ade 12 to grade 15 will <br /> g <br /> result in a cost of $6,599. Seventy-five percent of the Transportation Assistant Administrator <br /> position is funded through federal funds.
