Foushee, and Commissioners <br /> 14 Alice M. Gordon, Barry Jacobs, Pam Hemminger, Mike Nelson, Bernadette Pelissier, and Steve <br /> 15 Yuhasz <br /> 15 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> 17 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> 18 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT County Manager Frank Clifton, Assistant County Managers <br /> 19 Willie Best and Gwen Harvey, and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker(All other staff members will <br /> 20 be identified appropriately below) <br /> 21 <br /> 22 !VOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE PERMANENT <br /> 23 AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 1. Additions or Chanties to the Agenda <br /> 26 Chair Foushee pointed out the water supply level sheet and a graphic for item 4-d — <br /> 27 Classification and Pay Plan Amendment—Modify Classification. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Staff requested that item 4-g be deferred -- Public Safety Communications <br /> 30 Improvements. The Board agreed. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> 33 The Chair dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 2. Public Comments <br /> 36 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 37 Orange County Schools Superintendent Patrick Rhodes said that he was here to talk <br /> 38 about a great project called the Hands for Habitat Project. This is in cooperation with Habitat <br /> 39 for Humanity. This project began two years ago and students actually help build a Habitat <br /> 40 House. He introduced Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity, Susan Levy. <br /> 41 Susan Levy said that this is a groundbreaking project for OCS and Habitat for Humanity. <br /> 42 She said that they have built about five homes with this project. This joint project is located in <br /> 43 the Fairview Community in Hillsborough. Orange County is also a partner with this project. <br /> 44 She said that awareness about affordable housing has spread amongst students, teachers, <br /> 45 parents, and community leaders throughout the County. She said that they are looking forward <br /> 46 to working with OCS for many years to come on this project. <br /> 47 Patrick Rhodes said that the goal was for the students to build, landscape, fundraise, <br /> 48 etc., for this project and the occupants of this home are OCS graduates. In May, there will be a <br /> 49 dedication ceremony for the home. There has been a lot of Creative fundraising throughout the <br />
