Vote: <br />ayes, 5; noes, 0. The Board said it did not know a freeze had been <br />imposed on capital purchases. <br />Agenda Item 12: A Resolution Affirmin A Polic of <br />Equa mp oyment ~portunit as Part <br />of Count Personne Practices. <br />The Personnel Director presenteu~:to.the Board a Resolution affirming <br />Orange County's Commitment to equa~~opportunity-employment. Gommissioner <br />Walker moved to adopt the Resolution o~Ffered by the Personnel Director <br />affirming Orange County's commtment•to equal opportunity employment; <br />Commissioner Whitted seconded the motion. Vote: Ayes ,5; noes, 0. <br />The Personnel Director said she would present the Board with a copy of <br />the Affirmative Action Plan on February 17th. <br />Agenda Item 13: ': The Purchasin A ent Will Respond to <br />ues Tans Concernin Ve is e.Prtces <br />an Performance Records Posed by t e <br />Board on Januar 2 t . <br />The County Attorney advised the Board that since one of the vendors <br />::.:' <br />L `L <br />contacted had asked that his prices not be made public the Board could <br />not legally consider that information; the Board followed the County <br />Attorney's advice and did not consider information obtained regarding <br />the informal bids. <br />The Purchasing Agent reported on the contact with Mr. Harris of <br />Chapel Hill regarding his experience purchasing vehicles on State Con- <br />tract. Mr: Harris' experience had been somewhat less than ideal; that <br />is, delivery was slow and the vehicles were not necessarily painted the <br />specified color (s). Mr. Rees said'Consumer Reports" rated the Chevette <br />average in overall performance. <br />Commissioner Wacker said he preferred ta. deal with "local people <br />who are paying local taxes" and he felt he had not had any imput into <br />the decision to purchase on State Contract. The Board, as a body, did <br />
