Agenda Item 4: The Social Services Director Will Re rt Concerm n Additional Funding For Chore Services Mr. Ward said he had no final figure on money to be re-allocated to Orange County from tF~e State. He said he expected to have more information after a meeting in Southern Pines. The Board asked that this item be returned. to the agenda on February 17. Agenda. Item 5: Re orts from the Community Develo t,~nent an- Recreation 5 af'~fs `Concernina'i A. Park Development: F' ~ '. Mr. Wayne Weston said this park in Northern Fairview at the site of the old Hillsborough Landfill,Awoul~d,be the first park in Northern Orange. He further said the original Hllb.proposal called fora 67 acre district park. He said there was some uncertainty as to whether or.not this site would support a structure but he expected to have that information later this month after an analysis of the soil. ' There was some discussion regarding the Town of Hillsborough's apparent desire to retain possess-ion of a portion of land adjoining the proposed site for use as an incendiary landfill.. Commissioner Gustaveson moved to have a special meeting with the Town of Hillsborough to explore the park concept as soon as possible and to empower the Chair to arrange the meeting. Commissioner Whitted seconded the motion. Vote: Ayes, .5; noes ,O. C. Neighborhood_Redevelopment Plan: Mr. Willie Griffin presented .the Board with the list o~F objectives outlined in the redevelopment plan. They are summarized below. 1) Elimination of slum and blighted areas; Z) Conservation of the neighborhood; 3) Removal of delapidated structure unfeasiable for rehabilitation; 4) Acquisition of and assembly of land for reallocation and redevelopment for the improvement of the environment and for public open space and recreation areas;
