Mr. Griffin, Y~,•_ ^attis and Mr. John McAdams spoke to various <br />.'alternatives. and grants. ~' Commissione- :"~ ~ ,~.P.~ s.,_gested three i-mnediate <br />activities: ~.1) Examine, 201 w...~~i. Nussioilities; 2) Have the C`~mmunity <br />Development Director draw up an "Imminent Threat" Grant proposal; and 3j ii. <br />the interim get the affected households to contract with a pump truck. <br />The Board, after much discussion, declined to overload the Planning Staff <br />and Community Development staff with ,.a:ddi.tional responsibilities at this time, <br />i.e., studying the pm blem and makin`g~a recommendation. The Board voiced <br />concern over the grave health problem faced by residents of Efland Estates. <br />Mr. Griffin ,suggested an outside consultant be hired to study the problem <br />and recorrenend solutions based on. technical expertise; he said we need an <br />engineer, whoever the consultant may be. <br />Cornnissioner Gustaveson recorrunended that $1,500 6e appropriated to hire <br />a consultant so the Manager can begin to seek solutions. Commissioner Whitted <br />moved to accept Commissioner Gustaveson's recommendation and asked the Manager <br />to draw up a contract with John McAdams Company. Commissioner Willhoit seconded <br />the motion. Vote: Ayes, 4; Noes, 0. <br />Commissioner Barnes adjourned the meeting for lunch, to reconvene at <br />2 P.M. in the Commissioners' Room. <br />Commissioner Barnes called the meeting i:o order at 2:30 P.M. <br />Commissioners absent: Commissioners Norma Walker and Don Willhoit. <br />Agenda Item 10: Will the Board Enact a Resolution Callin_q <br />a Public Hearing to Consider Closin an <br />Uno ened Portion of a Public Raadwa <br />Mr, Michael parker, Attorney for Percy Ellis McLamb and Ellen McLamb _.. <br />spoke for his clients. Mr. Parker said his firm had been asked to certify title <br />to this lot and it was during that title search they discovered it was a road <br />on the Plat (Tax Map B). Commissioner LJhitted moved to schedule a public <br />hearing for the purpose of receiving public comment an this request for the <br />3rd Tuesday;(February 17th) meeting; motion died for lack of second. <br />
