Agenda Item 8: Preliminary Plan of Lebanon Heights <br /> Subdivision <br /> a Commissioner Norman Gustaveson moved the Board accept the recommen- <br /> k <br /> dations of the County Planning Board to approve the Preliminary Plan of <br /> Lebanon Heights Subdivision. Commissioner Norman Walker seconded the <br /> Imotion. Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> Agenda Item 10: Cable Television Franchising <br /> The Chairman corrected the wording of this agenda item by deleting <br /> • y <br /> the word "certain" that immediately preceeded the words "non-incorporated" <br /> from the agenda as originally written. <br /> Commissioner Willhoit summarized the report of the Cable Television <br /> Advisory Committee and then moved the County Attorney prepare a non-exclusive <br /> franchise agreement the County might execute with The Village Companies. <br /> Commissioner Barnes seconded the motion. The Chairman called for discussion <br /> on the motion. <br /> Representatives of Village and Alert Cable T.V. were present and <br /> responded to questions posed by the Board. Commissioner Willhoit asked <br /> I if the government channels of Village and Alert could be interconnected. <br /> I <br /> Jim Heavner responding for Village by saying his company would utilize <br /> programs originated by Alert if they were made available to Village. <br /> Alert inquired what would be the status of the plant it had already <br /> constructed in the non-incorporated areas around Carrboro and Hillsborough. <br /> After a brief discussion of this point the issue was referred to the <br /> Cable T.V. Advisory Committee for consideration. Vote: Ayes 5, Noes 0. <br /> Agenda Item 12: A Road Matter <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson reported state road 1918 after passing <br /> Clearwater Lake was in a poor state of repair, He was particularly concerned <br /> about the uphill portion starting at the end of the pavement. The Board <br /> requested the Clerk write the Department of Transportation advising them <br /> of its concerns about the condition of this road. The Board also requested <br /> their thanks be extended to the Department of Transportation for its <br /> prompt response to the letter concerning speeding problems and other traffic <br /> hazards existing on Smith Level Road south of Carrboro.. <br />
