Recommended Tethering Amendment Proposal <br />May 200, 2008 <br />Page 4 <br />b Use of the doe in the business of cultivating agricultural <br />products if the restraining is reasonably necessary for the <br />safety of the dog. or <br />C. Use of the dog in lawful hunting activities if the restraint is <br />reasonably necessary for the safety of the dog. or <br />d Use of the dog at dog training or performance events. <br />including but not limited to field trials and obedience trials <br />where tethering does not occur for a period exceeding <br />7 consecutive days. <br />(ii) After taking possession of a dog that appears to be a stray dog and <br />after having advised animal control authorities of the capture of the <br />dog tether and restrain the dog in accordance with the provisions <br />^f Section XIM for a period not to exceed seven (7) days as the <br />person having taken possession of the dog is seeking the identity o <br />the owner of the dog. <br />(iii) Walk a dog with a handheld leash. <br />L It shall bg unlawful for any person to keep a dog outdoors in an enclosure <br />including a pen run kennel fence or electronically controlled containment device or <br />other outdoor enclosure in violation of this subsection. <br />1 Outdoor enclosures containing dogs must meet or exceed the <br />f llowing dimensional requirements: <br />Size of Dog Required Minimum Enclosure Area <br />1 -35 Pounds 80 Square Feet <br />36 -75 Pounds 100 Square Feet <br />76 Pounds and greater 120 Square Fled <br />1 outdoor enclosures must be of sufficient height so that the tallest dog contained <br />within the enclosure is able to walk naturally without its head reaching the roof or top o <br />said enclosure however the height of any such enclosure shall not be included for the <br />purooses of determining the required minimum enclosure area The provisions of this <br />
