• _s 1 <br /> • <br /> MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOA 28,RF1COMMISSIONERS <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on <br /> Thursday, August 28, 1980, at 7:30 p.m., in the Board Room, of the Lincoln <br /> Center, Merritt Mill Road, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. <br /> The purpose of the meeting was to have a joint work session <br /> with the Steering Committee of the Human Services Advisory Committee. <br /> Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, <br /> and Commissioners Norman Gustaveson and Anne Barnes. Commissioners <br /> Don Willhoit and Norman Walker were absent. <br /> Human Services Advisory Commission members present: <br /> Ms. Peggy Pollitzer, Chairperson, and Ted Parrish, Jerry Passmore, <br /> Jerry Robinson, Mary McAllister, Dick Taylor, Tom Ward, Bill Baxter, <br /> Bill Woodward and Dave Kiel. <br /> Chairman Whitted called the meeting to order and turned <br /> the meeting over to Ms. Pollitzer, Chairperson of HSAC. <br /> Mr. Bill Baxter reviewed plans for the Human Services Conference <br /> to be held November 7th and 8th at the Human Services Center in Hillsborough. <br /> He also discussed the agenda for the conference as well as costs involved <br /> for consultants, registration, food and duplicating. <br /> Ms. Pollitzer said the HSAC Steering Committee recommended <br /> the Board of Commissioners fund Dr. Dave Kiel and Dr. Bill Woodward as <br /> consultants for the conference as outlined in their contract. <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, to <br /> approve the Consulting Agreement between Bill Woodward and Dave Kiel <br /> of Psychology Associates and Orange County. Vote: ayes, 3; noes, 0. <br /> i <br /> For copy of this agreement, see page 582 of this book. <br /> Dr. Woodward reported HSAC evaluation problems and progress. <br /> General discussion followed concerning what the Commissioners <br /> expected of the Human Services Advisory Commission in the future. <br /> Dr. Parrish explained how funds donated by the State could be <br /> used for the conference. <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> Richard E.
