Ms. Diane Luck and Ms. Linda Reifsnyder spoke in favor of <br /> funding for additional staff at Sheaffer House. <br /> Ms. Heather Craig spoke in favor of fully funding three eligibility <br /> specialists in the Department of Social Services budget. <br /> Mr. Keith Aldridge spoke in favor of fully funding the Department <br /> of Social Services budget including three-eligibility specialists and <br /> a volunteer coordinator. <br /> s <br /> Mr. John Whitted spoke in favor of food stamp participation and <br /> the Department of Social Services budget. , <br /> Ms. Evelyn Lloyd spoke in favor of fully funding the Department <br /> of Health's budget and explained• the effects of the loss of <br /> one nursing position. <br /> There being no other persons present who desired to speak to the <br /> County's 1980-81 proposed budget, the Chairman declared the public hearing <br /> adjourned. After a 5 minute recess, the meeting continued in the Board <br /> of Commissioners Room. <br /> Mr. Roger Bernholz reviewed the status of the I-40 law suit. <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Barnes, <br /> to instruct Counsel to file a brief opposing the Supreme Court's <br /> review of the Court of Appeal 's decision re the Interstate 40 law suit. <br /> Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> The Board authorized the County Manager, or his designee, to <br /> k <br /> conduct preliminary discussions with SHAPE concerning expenses incurred <br /> c <br /> in connection with the Interstate-40 law suit. <br /> 3 <br /> The Board then resumed discussion of the proposed budget. <br /> Commissioner Barnes asked for clarification of funding requests for <br /> Sheaffer House, the Phillips Project and CBA funds. <br /> k <br /> The Board listed the following requests for additional discussion: <br /> Sheaffer House, Phillips Project, Soil and Water reclassification, <br /> sAnimal Control and Nursing position in Health Department budget, <br /> E Food Stamp Eligibility Specialist, Social Service Worker II and <br /> Volunteer Coordinator in Department of Social Services budget, <br /> Central Land Records, Road Naming Project, Central Services - Purchasing, <br /> -3- <br />
