Recommendations for 2010: <br />1. Hold an annual, public Aging 2010 Legislative Forum to present advocacy issues and any <br />recommended legislative priorities for submission to the BOCC and other aging advocacy <br />groups. <br />~6, Focus: Planningand Administration <br />Goal I: PlanninglAdministration -Enhance the planning, administration, coordination <br />and funding of a response system to the changing needs of Orange County's older <br />persons. <br />Objective 1-1: Planning/Coordination -Improve the County's planning and <br />coordination efforts for the growing aging population. <br />Lead Organization(s): Orange County Department on Aging with the Advisory Board on <br />Aging and the Triangle United Way with the O. C. Manager's Office. <br />Activities and Accomplishments: 2007-08 <br />1. Several Planning initiatives occurred in 2007-08. The United Way established an Orange <br />County Profile Committee to identify issues to fund through a new funding plan. Carol Woods <br />received athree-year Community Connections for Seniors Project grant that focuses on aging <br />transition issues and the County Comprehensive Planning was undertaken. All of these major <br />planning initiatives impact older adults. The Department on Aging Director and staff <br />participated in various committees in an effort to coordinate them with the MAP. <br />21 <br />Activities and Accomplishments: 2008-09 <br />1. Worked with Carol Woods' Community Connections for Seniors Project on transition issues, <br />leading to a "Telehealth" computer health monitoring system located located at the Central <br />Orange Senior Center in 2010. <br />2. Participated in the development of the Chatham-Orange Community Resources Connections <br />project (See page 20 -Results of 2009 Adopted Priorities). <br />Recommendations for 2010: <br />1. Continue planning and coordination efforts with various groups. <br />2. Explore potential for Department on Aging and DSS/Adult Services to collaborate on the <br />assessment, prioritization, and allocation of funds for the most efficient, effective, and equitable <br />utilization of county resources among the most needy residents. <br />Objective I-2: Administration- Improve the service delivery of the Department <br />on Aging's services as well as other county departments and other non-profit <br />agencies that serve older persons. <br />Lead Organization(s): Orange County Department on Aging and the Orange County <br />Advisory Board on Aging with the County Manager's Office. <br />19 <br />
