Frank Montes de Oca, Director, Orange County Emergency Services; Valerie Foushee, <br />Chair, Orange County Board of Commissioners; Bernadette Pelissier, Vice-Chair; Alice Gordon; <br />Pam Hemminger; Barry Jacobs; Mike Nelson; Steve Yuhasz. <br />Greetings: <br />By this letter, The South Orange Rescue Squad formally applies for an operational franchise to <br />provide ambulance and rescue services to the citizen's of Orange County tluough the Orange <br />County DeparUnent of Emergency Services and the Orange County Board of Commissioners. <br />Specifically, South Orange Rescue Squad is applying for a franchise to provide: <br />Technical Rescue Response [High Angle rescue, Swiftwater rescue, Confined Space <br />Rescue] <br />Special Event EMS and Ambulance Service <br />Regularly-Scheduled EMS and Ambulance Service <br />"Surge" EMS/Ambulance Service <br />These services will be dispatched through Orange County 911 Communications and will be <br />integrated into and will augment and support emergency services provided by Orange County <br />Emergency Services [OCES] to help meet county-wide response needs. <br />The South Orange Rescue Squad [SOBS] has been providing all-volunteer emergency EMS and <br />rescue services to the citizens of Orange County since 1971. <br />Until June 2009, SORS had provided regularly scheduled, 3-day, 12 hour per day EMS and <br />Ambulance service to The University of North Carolina and the surrounding Chapel Hill, <br />Cai7boro, and southern Orange County area to augment the Orange County EMS System. <br />SORS currently provides "Surge" EMS and Ambulance service to OCES during times of <br />overload to the County's resaurees. <br />SORS currently provides EMS and Ambulance service for fire or other large incident "Rehab <br />and Support" whenever requested by OCES or any fire department or law enforcement agency <br />within Orange County. <br />PO Box 1 ~8, Carrboro, NC 2 75 ! 0-0 ! 28 ~ 919.967. ! 5 ! 5 ~ www. soresecue. org <br />
